Where to find them

The surf in spring and summer (TPWD Sea Rim).

Bottom, in the wash and trough.

Handling

  • Venomous barbed tail spine

Shuffle your feet when wading. Never handle the tail. Cut the line as close as you can rather than trying to unhook a ray. A sting needs hot water and medical attention.

Keep or release

Release. Texas lists no limit for southern stingray (TPWD Sea Rim sheet).

Limits

FishOS has not checked the TX limits yet. Check the size, bag and season rules with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department before you keep a fish.
